Background information – Draft version

In March 2023, my goal was to realign AI before it

destroyed everything precious in our society. I love

technology and always have. I also value the contribution

AI can make when used correctly, but sadly, we are on the

wrong path.

I first wrote a set of three books, which, with over 950

references, covered all the issues there are with AI and a

solution. The books were written in an easy-to-read style,

engaging and aimed at winning hearts and minds. The

challenge is that most people are busy, and many would

rather stick pins in their eyes than read 800 pages on how

and why we need to tackle AI now.

So I then turned my focus to a web portal, and over the

next 3 months, created a 130-page site with over 1,000

images, all focused on kickstarting a global movement to

save the future. That is, I assure you, the only way we will

do what’s needed. The website address is

onechancenow.org. Digital versions of the above book set

are available to view.

At each stage, I reached out for feedback, and while on

every occasion, the readers and visitors endorsed the

approach, quality and style, the concern again was that

there was too much information.

I finally realised I needed something that grabbed

attention and kept people engaged. That brought out the

horrifying reality that if we don't take action and do it

now, we will not get a second chance.

And that is what you are holding in your hands now—a

tale to engage the emotions with humanity given a voice

through the power of story. The characters do the work,

and to various degrees, their concerns, anxiety, anger, and

passion take control of our future are reflected in all of us.

And best of all, they gave me a perfect solution. A

solution that no one can dispute. Not even the industry.

The Bridge of Wisdom

The beauty of a story is that you can engage all the

emotions and you can explain all sides, and that’s

important too. The industry, supporters and governments

are all locked in, and the only way we can turn it around is

for society—that’s us—to take control.

I'm sure you will enjoy the story; my editor hasn't been

near it yet, so there will be around thirty pages to come

out, but the feedback I've already had is that it works; I'm

about to start on the edits, so I would welcome your

honest critique.

Story outline

The Bridge of Wisdom is a powerful story of resilience,

collaboration, and humanity’s fight to reclaim its future

from the chaos of unchecked artificial intelligence.

After time away, Elliot Stanford returns to Freedom

County, only to find the town’s biggest employer, Rich

Resources, on the brink of being sold to an AI company.

With the added angst of Elliot being the co-founder, he

assembles a diverse team of leaders, activists, and sector

specialists to stop the worst from happening.

As the implications grew, job losses, erosion of purpose

but more so economic impact, house prices and effect on

tax revenues, the focus changed. Saving the town’s iconic

business was important, but more critical was dealing

with the greater threat. Humanity having no say on the

future.

Racing against the clock, they do the extraordinary. Over

a weekend, they bring the town together, and with 2,500

people live and more online, they connect through

emotional speeches, vivid metaphors, and shared

vulnerability, exposing how corporate greed is set to crush

lives and industries, increase risk and trigger

technological chaos.

By empowering attendees to take ownership of the

solutions, the group transforms Freedom County into a

model of resilience and collective action, inspiring hope

for a better future. At its core is a structured plan to

realign AI with human values, symbolised by the "Bridge

of Wisdom." This framework prioritises societal needs,

safeguards human rights, and ensures AI serves humanity

rather than replacing it. Through breakout sessions,

debates, and collective brainstorming, the community

crafts a vision for a better tomorrow.

The story culminates in a powerful call to action, urging

humanity to reject inevitability and reclaim its voice. The

Bridge of Wisdom is a testament to the power of unity,

wisdom, and the belief that it’s never too late to change

the future.
