ONE CHANCE NOW

An open letter

Time to work together to change our tomorrow

'Dad, these will have to go.' Our youngest daughter married

just two weeks ago, points to three box files — treasured

memories of my early career, 22 years of corporate success.

I stare at the boxes, the only connections I have with who I

used to be. The link to AI's threat is uncanny. Our potential

and achievements tossed aside in the race to get ahead.

Today is June 15th 2025, and three days from now, we will

lose our family home. Our life is in boxes and bags.

Friends' garages and homes incongruously fill up with what

we've salvaged. The good humour is a mask. Resilience

runs in our family, but consequences have torn us apart.

Crisis brings humans together, and today we have an army

of helpers. Our children orchestrate, and their partners,

friends and our friends all swarm to lighten the load. Losing

our home wasn't part of the plan. In my worst nightmare,

this doesn't happen.

I look at Linda, the most precious person in my life and

guilt, a hollow, dark void in the pit of my stomach, envelops

her turmoil like an open sore. We've been married 38 years,

and the trauma, devastation, and the mounting debt are all

my fault.

2

I chose to do this. I’m a unique casualty of the AI industry’s

juggernaut – the relentless campaign to impose on the

world their version of the future.

I've invested everything to find a solution—how we stop

corporate greed from destroying our tomorrow. It’s taken

longer than planned, but I finally have the answer. That

said, it does nothing to numb the pain.

I give up disputing the books and gadgets going to the

charity shops, the furniture I've restored—advertised as

'free to collect'—ferried away by those who can't believe

their luck. Our mementoes, pictures, and possessions,

meaningless to anyone else, are stuffed in black bags ready

to be recycled.

No words can describe the raw emotion of humans in

distress, particularly when flawed choices, fate and reality

leave no place to hide. As a family, we don’t have cross

words and always look out for each other, but today we are

choking on the complexities of love, support, anger and

regret. And there lies the terrible irony: our pain as a family

is coming for all of us. Everything has consequences, and

everything is connected.

That's what we're missing with AI. Well, I haven't, I've

spent two years joining the dots.

Our four children, 31-38, are independent, degree-

educated, in secure jobs and doing what they love. Family

and friends were desperate for me to succeed—I'm the

beacon that never gives up—but they warned me of the

dangers. 'Someone else will fix AI. '

3

But that was the problem; no one is. Lots of people are

talking, but we don't have a call to action or a plan.

AI is the greatest ever threat.

We're throwing $trillions at climate change; it's on political

manifestos, business plans, and is the beating heart of

activists across the globe, but anyone in technology's

bubble knows AI will take us first. I'm a massive advocate

of tech. Used correctly, AI is the critical pillar for our

future, but we're sleepwalking towards the greatest crisis in

human history, and doing nothing to change its course.

We have an out-of-control, self-centred industry with a

'move fast and break things' mantra, making it up as they

go along. Billionaires and corporate bullies are enforcing

their version of tomorrow, with no concern for

consequences.

Inexplicably, our governments, fuelled by geopolitical

fears, are trusting an industry to do the right thing without

questioning the lack of a single forecast. That bears out the

true horror. Corporations do nothing without a plan, nor

should a democracy, but global giants are tossing humanity

aside, and no one is holding them to account.

So why hasn't an industry capable of solving our most

complex challenges shared its projections? Because it

would be at odds with the eutopia they’re projecting. Their

version of the future prioritises profit and power, destroys

our right to self-determination and everything we hold

precious.

4

Chop away the jargon and the hype, and the evidence is

overwhelming. Anyone who understands what's happening

knows that, and that's the collective wisdom I've used for a

solution that withstands rigorous debate.

I'm now looking for partners to kickstart a global

movement for a better way forward—an AI-powered future

that enhances human potential rather than crushing it,

aligned with a strategy that works for all.

This industry does not have the right to dictate humanity's

fate, and even less to justify the half-truths and lies that

promote the idea it's inevitable. The cliché of abundance

for all will only deliver for the elite. No billionaire, AI

executive, or political leader will lose their home or future

when our economy and values hit the wall, but the mass of

humanity will pay the highest price for the industry's

reckless race for profit and power.

How governments have failed us

Our governments have failed us at the most critical point in

history. We have a tsunami on the horizon, and our leaders

and pundits obsess over sandcastles on the beach. I’m

serious, all the debates about jobs, building houses, tax and

budget plans will be swept away with what’s to come.

There will always be urgent issues, international and

domestic, but the survival of our species should be at the

top of the list.

5

The rich and powerful are using AI to decimate our future,

and our protectors are ignoring the threat. Instead of robust

collective analysis and action, with few exceptions, they

shamelessly jockey for a share of the spoils.

While the industry plays divide and conquer, this

abdication of leadership has left humanity exposed, with no

strategy or plan. Protests and pleas for common sense aren't

working, and global giants lawyer up, exploiting out-of-

date laws, leaving the majority—that's 95% of us—caught

up chasing FOMO or playing wait and see.

The idea being, if it goes wrong, we'll fix it later, but

anyone who understands AI knows that will be too late.

With everything on the line, we only have two choices:

keep doing what we're doing or come together and do the

extraordinary. And we won’t get a second chance. If we

don't take ownership now, we will forever live with the

regret that we didn't do all we could.

There is a better way

My name is Mike Pywell, I'm a life and business coach

from Harrogate, Yorkshire, England, and I do not want to

live with regret. I can't explain the force that powered my

journey, but I am persistent and know leaving myself with

no choice gave me a solution no one can dispute. That is

the power of the human mind, one that AI is determined to

crush.

6

This mini-site details the reasons why we must act and how

we do it. I have the infrastructure in place, it layers the

knowledge and wisdom of experts, influencers and

activists, plus my intuitive insight, creativity and own

research. I've then applied humanity's greatest asset, the

belief that if you harness human spirit and ingenuity,

nothing is impossible.

We need the extraordinary.

The only way we can fix AI is to engage humanity, which

will require a movement worthy of the task. The base is in

place; the mission laid out; we now need a team to share it

with the world. Together we can tackle discrepancies, add

references, security, ideas, and initiatives, and finalise

plans to manage people and resources. Wherever you sit,

this is our chance for a focused, joined-up campaign. If we

do that, and do it now, we can turn our darkest hour into the

most outstanding new beginning.

This is not about protest.

The movement's goal is not protest; it's to build awareness

that we have a solution that no one, not even the AI

industry, can argue against. One that balances the

knowledge, opportunities and risks and stops deluded self-

interest from propelling us towards self-destruction. To

bring that all together and expose the truth, I've woven its

logic into a story called the Bridge of Wisdom, a vehicle to

inspire anyone with hopes and dreams to join the global

movement to reclaim our tomorrow.

7

This is our future

Our world does not belong to a niche group that has

assumed the God-given right to dictate the future. The

Bridge of Wisdom is structured to give us all a say - that's

broad society, business, governments, and the world's

experts in every discipline. This approach fast-tracks

common sense, and its simplicity leaves the industry with

nowhere to hide. When everyone is arguing for wisdom, no

one, whether an individual, corporation, industry or

government, can pursue a strategy driven by greed.

It’s time to change strategy

But to get there, we have to change. If we keep doing what

we're doing, we'll keep getting what we're getting—in-

depth podcasts, academic debates, lobbying governments

on rules, challenging copyright, or focusing on existential

risks—albeit real—are a base but not a solution. We will

win by exposing the economic flaws in the industry's

planning, the failure of our governments to see beyond

dreams without substance, and convincing the mass of

humanity that working together, we can build an AI-

powered future that works for all.

It's time for a beating drum. A no-punches-pulled, not-for-

profit, professional, self-financed global campaign with

everyone who cares about our world focused on pooling

our talents and skills. And our goal is simple: ensure all

sections of society understand the dangers of standing aside

and our right to fight for our future.

8

Best of all, the plan is to reset AI in 90 days. Swallow the

impulse to say it can't be done. To stop the unthinkable, we

need the extraordinary, and there are multiple reasons for

that being the goal. This mini-site details the research,

logic, infrastructure and strategy, all shared so we can

debate and move forward with one voice.

Now, the obvious question. What right do I have to put this

forward? Well, I am a human. I also have something that

no one else has—a joined-up plan for a better future that is

ready to go, and the knowledge that no one can question

my motives. I've risked everything and paid the price for

getting here. I welcome your critique, input and support.

The critical point we’re missing

For AI to work for humanity, taking ownership means more

than having a say; it means legally taking back control of

our knowledge, skills, talents and who we are.

Denying humans the right to use our most precious assets

has nothing to do with copyright; it's theft. Add the

entrenchment of AI, the mass addiction, dumbing us

down—and the relentless campaign to convince us that

pursuing super intelligence is for our benefit—and the

intent becomes clear.

Historically, legislation plays catch-up, but when our

survival is at stake, we have to fast-track wisdom to reflect

our values. Humans decide the laws, and we need a global

movement to reclaim what is rightfully ours, before it's lost

forever.

9

Establish ownership of AI, and we can redefine its role and

application so society wins. Because this demands we also

take a strategic approach to the market, this will

simultaneously increase the industry's impact and returns

without destroying humanity along the way.

That common-sense approach also gives us the base for

geopolitical alignment and all the issues it raises. Suppress

the thought that it's too late or impossible. It’s not. We're on

the cliff edge—this is about humanity's survival.

Our forefathers gave everything for the freedom we enjoy

today. We don’t have to risk our lives on the battlefield, but

we need to mirror their commitment and apply our talent,

skills, and determination with a plan and execution worthy

of the cause. It's time for Generation 2025 to stand together

on the right side of history and say No, there is a better way.

Reflecting on where I am

It's three weeks on from losing our home, and I'm doing

what you'd expect a career-long 'life coach' to do—convert

pain into action. It's a habit, but it's more challenging when

the goal is the cause of the pain. I take a moment and clarify

what I have: the solution to save our future, my only

objective, connecting with others to make it happen.

Personal pressure forces another option. I could go to the

UK press. The human interest and goals would instantly

connect, but we'd lose the critical advantage of surprise—

a key element in any conflict. I reject it and stick with my

original plan. Reach out to those committed to the task,

then plan and launch like a military campaign.

10

Between us, we have all the skills, knowledge and network

to do that; all we need is Steven Covey's 'start with the end

in mind'- and that’s the vision I’ve created. With our backs

to the wall, humanity will do the impossible, and every

future generation will celebrate that we did the right thing.

That seems a long way from where I am. Linda is flitting

between our daughter's homes, dog sitting, cooking

dinners, and cutting clients' hair, and I'm in a friend's spare

room, trying not to get in the way. Emotion drives the

words onto the page.

Losing your home has implications—it changes choices,

plans and perspectives. Some of which you can't undo.

Two weeks ago, we said goodbye to Paddy, our family's 14-

year-old miniature schnauzer. Padz has had two strokes in

the past four months, and his quality of life has slid, but the

memory of us saying cheerio to the little guy before his

time still chokes me.

On Saturday evening, we watched the town's community

choir perform at our local church, everything from Rock

Classics to Mozart. An uplifting event, sixty-five voices, a

musical director, and a five-piece band delivering perfect

harmonies to families, friends and the parish. A film crew

wouldn't be out of place. Harrogate has again been voted

one of the UK's poshest towns, and on a barmy summer

evening, four generations of the middle class enjoyed the

simplicity of life's wonder. As the final applause rippled

through, it wasn't just for the entertainment, but the sense

of community, and the funds raised for St. Michael's, the

town's hospice.

11

I didn't dwell on the obvious; Linda and I were likely the

only homeless couple that bought a raffle ticket, but I did

play the future forward. The realisation being that unless

we act, every family there would see AI tear their future

apart, with at least two generations, potentially three, losing

their right to earn a living and, depending on their finances,

their homes.

But reach beyond that, this is the middle class, the

dominant demographic that powers our economy. The

parents and their children, at school or university, would be

the first in modern history to suffer the consequences of a

brainless strategy that replaces humans in the workplace

with AI.

Einstein reputedly said there are only two

infinite things - the universe and human

stupidity, and he's not sure about the universe.

In the case of AI, let's define stupidity—ignoring basic

economics. If there are no jobs, there is no point in

qualifications or education; no one will pay to study, let

alone take a student loan. Global giants dictating our future

are using 'super intelligence' to destroy a critical industry

and human development in one swoop. But it's not just

education. Keep taking jobs, stop paying humans, and

everyone stops spending, even those still working. With no

consumers, where is the incentive to invest in commerce or

infrastructure? Industries die, tax revenues dry up, and

businesses self-destruct in a race to the bottom.

12

The truth is, stupidity isn't a strong enough word. The

global automobile industry embraces technology, but its

sales model is status-driven, with 90% of new and used cars

sold on contract. Take jobs from humans in significant

numbers, and reality will kick in. Only the reckless and the

rich will lease; returned vehicles will flood the market,

driving the prices down. Why would anyone buy new? The

aspirational sales model that gave consumer industries their

power will be a memory buried in the past.

The consequences are even greater. Consumers will no

longer borrow to live for today, and falling property prices

will put an end to loan consolidation. The 2008 credit crisis,

which kick-started the worst recession since the 1929 Wall

Street crash, will be a pimple compared to what's to come.

The idea that AI will deliver eutopia is fundamentally

flawed. Even more sickening is the idea that humans should

trade the future for a delusional dream that exploring the

universe and beyond is more important than life's meaning

or our survival. No one is seeing the dangers, and the irony

couldn't be greater. We can only save our tomorrow by

harnessing the very creativity, skills, talents and drive the

AI industry is seeking to crush.

That's worth repeating and putting in context. Our most

powerful industry, driven by power and greed, has created

a new master race, and we can only stop that from

happening by using the talent, skills and spirit that it's doing

to replace.

Those aren't just words; there are immense personal

consequences of us standing aside. You lose control.

13

Despite Linda and I both having maximum state pensions,

offering to pay six months' rent up front, and our children

ready and able to act as guarantors, we've had another

rejection today, our third. Our poor credit rating and—as

I’m doing this—I don’t have a job, stand in the way.

Replicate that across 30% of the workforce. That's what we

will face by 2028, and by the early 2030s, AI will do almost

everything. Most of us will have broken credit ratings, and

few of us will have permanent jobs.

If there is a plus side to losing your home when you’re

seventy, it's that all four of our children are independent;

our kids are worried about us, not the other way round. But

play the future forward. Logic is that the inexperienced

workers will be most exposed, and it's not so easy to put

families with young children in the spare room.

When that is happening to everyone, the scale of the crisis

will be overwhelming, as will be the regret that we didn't

act when we could.

The worst human trait

This lunacy comes down to greed. The driver for self-

improving AGI, AI agents and AI-powered robots is the

unlimited riches of replacing human labour. It's also what

happens when leaders abdicate responsibility and allow a

fast-moving industry to race ahead without checks. We

have a technology that can solve every problem, but instead

of planning the future, everyone chases the low-hanging

fruit, simultaneously destroying humanity in a race to the

bottom.

14

My approach to getting a new home was to be transparent

with real estate agents. I felt sharing the reasons for our

plight added perspective. We’d been in our flat for ten

years, the landlords were friends and incredibly supportive

but the money just ran out.

I also hoped that explaining how the current AI path would

destroy the housing market, the future of agents’ business

and the property industry would build a connection. The

case is compelling, and there isn’t a solution.

Humans live on the edge and live for today. When the

money stops, we can't pay rent or mortgages. With more

jobs going, it's a rush to sell, but no one buys in a market

without a bottom. Unlike 2008, it will not correct, and

unlike Covid, there will be no money for government

handouts.

The agent nods and accepts that a 10% to 15% drop in

prices would take most small landlords out of the game,

and as the panic grows, drag more homeowners into

negative equity. People stop investing in their homes, the

DIY market grinds to a halt, so do the trades—the careers,

people say that will never die.

But everyone who works on the tools will suffer. When AI

takes jobs en masse, no one will build houses, extensions

or renovate properties. Homeowners will make do; they

will wrap tape around leaking taps, and not bother with

upgrading the dishwasher—the financial argument for new

kitchens, bathrooms, landscaped gardens, and green

technology will be a distant memory.

15

And it isn't just residential, AI doesn't need offices, so the

commercial market collapses. The construction industry

dies, as does investment in town and city centres. AI doesn't

eat in restaurants or buy gadgets or clothes. As disposable

income crashes, everything grinds to a halt.

If I get to this point, the agent sees it. They look at my

blueprints, books, website and plans and shake their head.

They can't argue with the logic, but that doesn't change our

situation. They will put it to the landlord, and that is the

issue we face as a society—it's like Chinese whispers.

Logical arguments repeated but not understood lose

traction, and with AI, are easily swept away by hype and

propaganda.

Why would the landlord take a risk? The irony is I’m

potentially their best chance of staying in business.

That's why we need a movement

A permanent beating drum is the only way to get the

message across. We need a movement so everyone is

repeating the same message, honed for different markets

and demographics. And we keep that up until everyone

understands the consequences so that they can share the

truth.

We cannot allow an industry driven by profit, that doesn't

value humanity, to dictate the future.

If we fail to take ownership now, society will self-destruct.

Greed and self-interest will crush hopes and dreams and

undermine business and governments.

16

It will decimate the middle class, roll inequality back a

hundred-plus years and leave millions homeless. Those are

not reckless claims but backed by research and applied

common sense.

This mini-website lays out the details, references and

digital copies of a plan that is ready to go. The starting hub

is a 130-page, 1,000-image site, engaging content,

arguments, and interactivity. Behind that are detailed

blueprints on why we need to act now and the solution.

I have a three-book set with 950 references that explains in

easy-to-read chapters, an overview video to engage hearts

and minds and at its core, the Bridge of Wisdom, a story

that explains everything, triggers all the emotions, anger,

tears, fist pumps and rallying calls, a tale worthy of sharing

with the world.

It's all ready to go, but I need support. We need partners

prepared to do more than talk about how an industry is

dragging humanity over a cliff, do more than focus on the

existential risks, and do more than play the honest card—

they can't predict the future, but in their opinion, it's not

good. That is not enough.

There can only be one objective

Our job is to use our knowledge, our skills, our networks

and our influence to do everything we can to stop the

madness. Governments will not lead the way; that means

it's down to us.

17

It's time for all of us to step up and understand we can only

fix AI by combining knowledge, talent, wisdom and effort.

Not to protest, but use our skills to capture the world's

imagination to promote and deliver a better way.

We can and will flip FOMO

Do this right, and no one will want to miss being part of a

movement that changed history. All the evidence is there;

all we need to do is lay it out. No one other than those

driven by self-interest can argue against it. But that will not

happen if we don’t move now.

We need a core team

Taking a professional approach is the way we can save

humanity’s future. And I’ve lost too much to hold back

now.

We need AI experts, A-listers, influencers, podcasters,

journalists—sector, general and trade, developers, editors,

the media, administrators, team leaders, graphic designers,

content

creators,

musicians,

actors,

narrators,

videographers, project managers, security specialists,

lobbyists, trainers, event planners, ambassadors, sponsors,

trustees, lawyers, PR specialists, fundraisers…

Yes we will raise the funds, and crowdfunding will

generate more than sufficient to finance a sabbatical and

freelance team. Volunteers are essential, but we need a

structure to manage them and put the disciplines in place to

ensure a professional approach.

18

If you, your network or organisation would like to play a

role in delivering the extraordinary, please get in touch

without delay. Millions of humans are worried about their

future; it's time to convert that energy into action.

Surprise is a key element

This mini-website is not for general release, but please

forward this link to others in confidence who have the

knowledge, profile, and commitment to play a role in

helping to shape the next stage.

Remove all doubt, this is the time, and working together,

we can do this. This is not about me; this is about all of us

working together to save the future.

I respect all the work that has gone on to get us to here, but

the only way we will overcome humanity’s greatest

challenge is by coming together, with one call to action,

and a unified platform we can all get behind.

Thank you for getting to the end. This website has

additional background, but the real riches will come when

we start exploring how we can bring this all together and

share it with the world.
